Comparing DreamHost vs. HostGator there are a few things of note. First, HostGator is much cheaper on their basic plan than DreamHost is, at least on the coupon pricing. When comparing renewal rates for HostGator or DreamHost, the pricing will depend on the term that you select. Choosing a monthly hosting plan with HostGator can be as much as $8.95 per month, but they also offer several other billing terms: 6 months, 12 months, 24 months, or 36 months. The cheapest is, of course, the 36 month plan which is $4.95 per month with no HostGator coupon or promo. At DreamHost you have only a 1 month at $10.95, 1year at $9.95 per month, or 2 year at $8.95 per month. The price in our HostGator versus DreamHost comparison above is the cheapest price available, based on coupon pricing and the longest term option.

Other differences you may notice in the two providers are the domain features. HostGator does not include free domain name registration but DreamHost does. The free domain is good for the life of the hosting account with DreamHost but if the hosting account becomes inactive at any time, the customer will be charged for that year’s domain registration. The feature set of both DreamHost and HostGator are very similar. HostGator does offer three web hosting plans for customers to choose from, in comparison DreamHost just has the one shared hosting plan. Both provide 24/7 support but HostGator has  a larger array of support options. HostGator provides support through phone, live chat, and email but DreamHost only provides support through email and the discussion forum.  Would we recommend either HostGator or DreamHost over the other? Not really. Both provide reliable web hosting service with the features and tools customers will need to succeed.
